Food Hunting 8 : Serai, Empire

We are at our eighth post! This time around, we went out to Empire Subang Jaya to try out the most-talked-about restaurant called Serai. Alia did not join us for this food hunting activity since she was not feeling well. But we brought along another special guest! He is our good friend, Hadif :D

Since we were starving when we arrived, we decided to order white rice with side dishes. After scanning the menu for quite some time, we came to a conclusion to order these dishes:

  Seabass Steam with Lime Sauce

Mango Chicken
Kangkung Belacan
Serai Spicy Prawn

The restaurant smells like the serai plant. The interior design is just nice. Plants are all over the place. The workers are friendly but the service was quite slow. Our food arrived more than 20 minutes after we ordered.

The MANGO CHICKEN is a must try! The chicken is crunchy and the tinge of mango completes the dish. The SPICY PRAWN is also good. One advice if you were to order this dish, make sure that there are more than three people since the size of the prawn itself is big, and the portion is also quite large. And of course, it is spicy. The KANGKONG is just nice. If you don’t like the taste of BELACAN, it’s better if you avoid from ordering it because the taste of the belacan is really strong. The SEABASS is well-cooked and tastes really good. For the fish, you could choose the size (small or large).

For dessert, Haz ordered a slice of BERRY PAVLOVA. It’s light and creamy and of course, delicious! Yums :D

One mistake we did was not looking at the price of the fish and prawn. When we got the bill, our jaws dropped!  Each of those two dishes cost us RM52! But overall, the food tasted really good. We would like to give it four out of five stars!
